Jacques Sangla is one of the pioneers of the movement for deaf rights in France. Like many deaf people of his generation, after growing up in an oral environment, he belatedly became aware of the value of his deaf identity, his culture and his language, sign language. His actions have helped to give the community visibility in society and a better future.
Today, his daughter Audrey takes the camera to share the legacy he passed on to her. Deaf too, she lives in a different world from the one in which he was built. So, by drawing a portrait of her father, both intimate and professional, she bears witness to the impact of his struggles on the place of the deaf today.
