Kyogen is classic Japanese theatre, known for its light, humorous comedies featuring everyday situations with typical characters. These plays explore universal themes such as love and family relationships, with simplicity and subtle humour. The stories are punctuated by misunderstandings, puns and expressive gestures, amplifying the comedy of the situation. Accompanied by traditional music and song, Kyogen's performances offer a rich theatrical experience. For the first time, these shows have been specially adapted into international sign language, offering a new version of Kyogen designed to be accessible to an international audience, without requiring any prior knowledge of Japanese.
